The Miracle Of A Back Girdle

When I had my right knee surgery after my fall I was unable to walk for a month, then I began with my physical therapy and notice that I was having lower back pain as well as numbness in both of my legs. Thinking that is was “normal” I concentrated more on my right knee and the physical therapy, then anything else.

Once the therapies were over I was issued a four leg cane and a customized knee brace. But, oh my goodness, the pain in my lower back was intolerable and the numbness of both legs was so unbearable, I decided to speak to my doctor, he mention to me that what I needed was a lower back support girdle.

Great! Another gadget to make me look like I been hit by a truck!. What does this have to do with a lower back restraint? Keep reading…..

Apparently, since I was walking with a gait or limping as they say, I was damaging my sciatic nerves and it was causing the numbness to both my legs and lower back pain. To prevent this from happening they had to stabilize my lower back and at the same time ensure that I would start walking correctly. Oh…, I wanted to see this! I already had gone through so many things like medication, heat pads, electrodes, you name I tried it.

Okay, I said to myself, this is good….what a difference! My back eventually stop hurting and the numbness gradually went away. The medical support girdle was all I really needed, I was able to walk much better with the restraint, and could use it underneath my clothing, which was great since I was tired trying to explain to strangers that I just fell. I was able to make sure that my Asiatic nerves weren’t permanently damaged, which is a plus, since now, I can go up stairs, take a regular short walk on my own with out the use of the cane. I still have to use my knee brace and work on going down stairs, but hey, it’s a start.

  1. Chiropractic care is generally safe if it can be applied skillfully and appropriately. I have to like this natural method because it has no side effect as traditional treatment methods.

  2. It’s important to have the support one needs to counter-act an aching lower back, pelvic area, or hips. There are undergarments out there that offer that support. Some even offer body shaping on top of this. That way you not only feel better, but look better as well.
